Today I made my grade-six twin "students" that I'm tutoring in grammar say that the sentence "Maria and Alex love one another dearly as brother and sister" is correct.
"YES! It is correct that you love one another!" (They're constantly calling each other either fat or stupid) I said. Maria said that she meant the sentence was correct. Too late, Maria, too late.
I also told them that I was going to start an insult jar where they would put money into a jar every time they said, wrote, or mouthed anything remotely insulting to one another during tutor-time (yeah, I call it "tutor-time"). I started out saying the money would go to me, but then switched it to charity.
Charity shmarity. Put it towards a dessert outing.
