Cell phones have been so annoying lately. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I have had my loaner phone for nine or ten weeks when it was supposed to be six to eight max and it's the worst phone ever. But I think it's because I am so sick of seeing the glowing florescense of the cell phone constantly. People bumbling around stumbling and tripping and swerving into oncoming traffic to get or send the latest text. I get it, okay. Texting is fun. You're bored and lonely, so text. When you're somewhere awkward you can fill your time with messages. But you have to wonder.... What did people do without cell phones and texting? yes, dare I even say without little iPods to stick in our ears, with fun games to play. Perhaps people, long, long ago, were aware of their surroundings. Spent periods of complete silence in thought. Contimplation. Peace. Maybe they reflected on their day, their life. No little click click no bzzzzzz no little diddy to remind you that you're connected with someone. Cell phones have become annoying. Why do we need to be in constant touch with people? Why not look around you and appreciate what's here and now. Maybe that's too awkward. But I'd rather be awkward and contimplative, meditative, thoughtful, and able to carry a conversation with a stranger than locked into a lovers gaze with an electronic device.
Wait. That's what I'm doing now...
